Summary

We do not ask for your name, email, phone number or address on this site.
If you use one of our ZIP code forms, the ZIP code you type and the type of quote you chose are sent to a quote form on quotesautoinsurance.org, a partner site. Anything you enter after that is collected by the partner, under the partner's own privacy policy.
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used. It sets cookies, which you can block or delete.
We do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Information you give us

ZIP code and quote type. Our quote forms ask only for a ZIP code. When you submit a form, your browser sends the ZIP code, the quote type, a referral ID and a campaign label (for example refID=16079 and refCampaign=topmhge) either directly to the partner quote form or to one of our quote pages, which forwards them to the partner quote form (see "How the quote forms work" below). We do not store the ZIP code in a database on this site. It may still appear in our hosting provider's standard web server logs, because it is part of the page address (URL).
Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to correct our content where needed.

Information collected automatically

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information about each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested (including any URL parameters), the referring page, and browser and device type. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and keeping the site running. They are kept for a limited period set by the hosting provider.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4). We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-N9X6E11ZNQ), a service provided by Google, to understand which pages are read, how visitors arrive and how the site performs. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, and the referring site or campaign. We do not send your name, email or phone number to Google Analytics. Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Campaign parameters. If you arrive through an ad or a tracked link, the page address may contain parameters such as utm_source, gclid or msclkid. When you use a quote form, these parameters may be passed along to the partner quote form so that the referral can be attributed.

Google Analytics offers optional features such as Google Signals, demographics and interests reports, and advertising features. If any of these features are enabled for our property, Google may combine analytics data with information from Google accounts of users who have allowed this in their Google settings. You can control this in your Google account at https://myadcenter.google.com, and you can opt out of Google Analytics as described above.

How the quote forms work

You enter a ZIP code in a form on this site and select the form's button (for example Get Quotes).
Your browser opens a quote form on quotesautoinsurance.org, a partner site, either directly or through one of our quote pages (for example /auto-insurance-quote.html), which forwards you there. Your ZIP code, the quote type, the referral and campaign labels and any campaign parameters are included in the page address so you do not have to type the ZIP code again.
From that point you are on the partner's website. Any further details you choose to provide there (for example your vehicle, driving history, name, phone number or email) are collected by the partner and the companies it works with, under their own privacy policy and terms, not this policy. Please read them before you submit the partner form. The partner may share the information you submit with insurers, agents or other quote providers so they can contact you with quotes.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

run, secure and fix the site;
measure which guides are useful and improve them;
pass your ZIP code and quote type to the partner quote form when you ask for quotes;
reply to messages you send us.

Sharing

We share information only:

with the partner quote form, as described above, when you use a quote form;
with service providers that run the site for us, such as our hosting provider and Google (analytics);
if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or the site.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices and rights

You can use the site without entering any information.
You can block or delete cookies and opt out of Google Analytics as described above.
Depending on where you live (for example in California, Virginia, Colorado or other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because we do not collect names or contact details through the site, we usually hold very little that could identify you. To make a request, email us at the address in the Contact section below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
For information you submitted on the partner quote form, contact the partner directly, using the contact details in its privacy policy.

Retention

Google Analytics data is kept for the data retention period configured in our Google Analytics property, after which Google deletes user-level data.
Server logs are kept for the limited period set by our hosting provider.
Emails are kept only as long as needed to answer and follow up.

Security

We use HTTPS across the site and limit access to our hosting and analytics accounts. No website can guarantee complete security.

Children

This site is meant for adults shopping for insurance. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us at the address in the Contact section below and we will delete it.
