What we are not
We are not an insurance company, agent or broker. We do not sell, quote or service insurance policies, and we do not handle claims. Final prices and eligibility are always set by insurers.
How we write and update our guides
- We rely on public, reliable sources such as the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), state insurance departments, the Insurance Information Institute and insurers' own published information, and we link to them where it matters.
- Average costs come from published data and are labeled with their source. They are not a prediction of your own premium.
- We review and update pages when rules, programs or data change, and we correct mistakes when we find them.
